Out of Sight, Out of Sale

When you think you want to give up on reaching out to a client or an agent, stop and think about how you handle sales people. Recognizing how and when people buy is not a one size fits all thing. There are multiple stages within the process as someone decides if they want to buy and when they are ready. When I walk into a store, I know what I am looking for but I don’t always know where it is. The sales person comes up and asks if I am looking for something specific or if they can help me. I lie… I say no, I am just looking. I might also ask some questions at that time or get educated on the item I am trying to buy. I may not buy at this stage and if I don’t, I will take that knowledge with me to the next time I consider purchasing it. When I go to buy it, I may not buy it from the store I originally walked into or the same person I learned so much from. I will buy it from the person or store who is in front of me. Take social media for example. I have bought so much stuff off of social media and I can tell you that one item I bought, I watched the same girl pitch it for months, but the day I decided I was ready to buy it, a new girl was advertising it and I bought it from her. After I purchased it, I actually felt bad that I had watched the other girl so many times, but wasn’t ready to pull the trigger. I couldn’t even think of her name though to go try to find her. I just used the one in my face when my mind was made up. Pay attention to your own buying habits and how you build relationships around you. If you can realize how you interact with companies, sales people, and the process you go through when you are considering purchasing something, it will help you understand why clients and agents ghost you. It will help you understand why it is important to stay consistent with them, ask questions, get to know them, find out what their pain points are to be able to help them understand how YOU can help them. Don’t give up; stay in front of them and that is not just an email- no one is reading emails anymore! They will come around. If you stop, someone will be there in your place to scoop em up and take care of them for you.
